Huntsville, AL- Riverstone Solutions, Inc., an information technology and cybersecurity firm, announced today that it has been certified by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to participate in the Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) program.
“Achieving HUBZone certification not only enables more direct and strategic access to support our customers, it also allows us to directly contribute to economic development in disadvantaged areas”, remarked Angela Rittenbach, President and CEO of Riverstone Solutions, Inc.“
Supporting and growing a qualified cyber workforce is a strategic goal for Riverstone Solutions. Participating in the HUBZone program allows us to directly contribute to workforce development initiatives in underrepresented and economically challenged areas. HUBZone certification is only one part of our effort to bring job creation in these areas. We are also actively participating in Cyber Huntsville Workforce Development initiatives, and founded the Cyber Reach Association to enable cyber professionals in the community to connect with, and mentor aspiring cyber resources.”
The HUBZone program opens the door to help small businesses in urban and rural communities gain preferential access to federal procurement opportunities, setting the goal of awarding 3% of federal prime contract dollars to HUBZone-certified companies. Gaining HUBZone certification requires employing staff living in designated underutilized areas, reinforcing the efforts of both the Administration and Congress to promote economic development, and employment growth by increasing access to federal contracting opportunities.
